Can vinyl flooring go on concrete without underlay?

Many gluedown vinyl products are installed directly onto a prepared concrete subfloor without a traditional underlay. In that case, the smoothness and condition of the subfloor become even more critical. Some click systems may use an integrated backing or specified underlay, but this should always follow the manufacturer guidance rather than guesswork.
